Huish Apprenticeships were amongst those celebrating with the winners at the Grow Somerset Talent Apprenticeship Awards that took place during National Apprenticeship Week at the Holiday Inn, Taunton. Grow Somerset Talent is an initiative to maximise apprentice recruitment in the area of Somerset and the awards highlight some of the most successful individuals and companies from the past year.
Amongst the finalists were two Huish Apprentices and two employers that work with the College. Nominated were Invest South West for the Small Employer Award, and Lloyd and Whyte for the Medium Employer Award. Business Admin Apprentice, Grace Ashley-Stokes who works for Musgrove Park Hospital, was a finalist in the Intermediate Apprentice category whilst Associate Project Manager Apprentice, Ben Eve of Somerset County Council was up for Higher Apprentice of the Year.
Lloyd and Whyte were victorious on the evening and the award was collected by Gabrielle Tremaelett, a former Richard Huish Apprentice now working at Lloyd and Whyte continuing her career in financial planning and insurance.
David Watson, who has recently been appointed Director of Apprenticeships and Adult Skills at Huish presented the Large Employer of the Year Award to winners Honeywell and shared; “It has been spectacular this evening to celebrate the success of Apprenticeships across Somerset and the impact they are having for individuals and businesses at all levels”.
