Head Teacher Testimonials
“Being relatively new to the Huish Trust, we have found them to be really welcoming and supportive. Whilst a few of my team had some concerns about joining a trust, all of my team feel very comfortable in that the assurance given to the school that it will retain it’s identity has proved to be true whilst also gaining all of the advantages and benefits of being part of the Huish Trust”.
“Since joining the Trust I have felt supported yet been able to retain a level of autonomy which means the school has retained it’s identity. I have been able to lead my school, make changes and create an identity within the Huish values. I have found the IT team to be so approachable, the Estates manager to be brilliantly supportive and the HR team to be a fantastic source of advice and guidance. It is this team ethos that is strong within the MAT and a key reason for me joining and our schools collaborating. Regular conversations with the leadership team around strategy, finance and challenge have been so valuable and the work with our School Development Office has been really powerful and reflective and well as visionary”.
“Recently I visited another Trust school to observe a ‘no pen’ Maths lesson to support both my own and my school’s professional development. I came away full of excitement, enthusiasm and a desire to share this practice as wide as possible. This approach is used to develop children’s vocabulary and help them express their understanding using STEM sentences – something we are keen to develop at our school. The ability to be able to visit other schools within the MAT and learn from their practice is such powerful collaboration. As a group of Headteachers we meet regularly to share ideas and challenges and other groups such as the NQTs, Maths leads and SENCo’s are also coming together to strengthen our approach”.
“Since joining, I have really enjoyed working closely with Head Teacher colleagues from within the Trust. Being part of a team of Head Teachers that are connected and supported by the Trust’s Senior Leaders, gives us the opportunity at regular meetings, to talk about current topics, school improvement priorities and any other matters that affect us as part of a positive, leadership group”.
“Joining the Trust has also enabled our staff to form professional working relationships with their colleagues in other schools who have similar roles. Collaborative working always inspires and motivates and there are many exciting pieces of work we are now part of in areas including: Maths, Art, PE, SEND and Early Years”.
