Richard Huish College is proud to announce their live production for 2022, ‘Made in Dagenham: The Musical!’

Made in Dagenham follows the story of Rita O’Grady, who like millions of other women in 1968, is just trying to get her husband out of bed, get the kids off to school and get to work at the factory on time. But life is about to change forever when it’s announced that the girls in the stitching room of Ford’s Dagenham car plant will have their pay grade dropped to ‘unskilled’. Quickly drawing on a strength she never knew she had, Rita leads her friends in a battle against the might of Ford and the corruption of the Union supposed to protect them. As the girls’ inspiring journey gets bigger than anyone could have imagined, the pressure is too much for some, but can Rita keep up the fight and the happy home she’s worked so hard for? Based on real events, with music by David Arnold, and lyrics by Richard Thomas, the “funny, touching and timeless” Made in Dagenham shows how ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they stand together.

The production features a collaborative effort from across the College, with students taking part in the EnRICH activity from both A Level and Vocational courses, providing them with a chance to be involved in the performance as cast members, ensemble, the live band, and even putting everything together behind the scenes through Stagecraft. The venture continues a winning streak of West End adaptions at Huish from previous years, which have included sold out shows of ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’ and the equally highly praised production of ‘Chicago’.

The show will run from Wednesday 16th – Friday 18th February 2022 at the newly refurbished Richard Huish College Theatre in Taunton.

Tickets are available now through the box office.
