Our more able mathematicians from Year 8 and Year 9 competed in the UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust) Intermediate Maths Challenge, a competition with thousands of entrants every year. I am pleased to announce some of our best ever results in the competition. Our pupils won a total of seven medals, including two gold medals, two silver and three bronze.

Alex got 124 point and has qualified for a gold certificate. He got the highest marks in Year 9 nationally and received ‘Best in Year’ and ‘Best in School’ distinction from UKMT. He will take part in a follow up competition called Cayley Olympiad.

Billy got 95 points and also qualified for a gold certificate. He is placed within the top 100 of competing pupils in the UK for his age group. He will take part in a follow up competition called Grey Kangaroo Maths as well. Hayden and Jack have qualified for a silver certificate. Abigail, Kyran and Mara have qualified for a bronze certificate.

It is an incredible achievement and a sign of great things to come for these mathematicians.

During this term, our pupils will be given opportunities to compete in some Maths competitions, including the UKMT Maths Team Challenge and the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge. We look forward to celebrating more great results in the future.
